Byrne CFO Thomas Chartrand recently lent his insights to the International Dairy Foods Association’s Dairy Download podcast. This episode of The Dairy Download explores how New York State dairy leaders are working to meet evolving consumer demand, strengthen the industry’s future and support the economic vitality of the Northeast.
Highlights of Thomas’ chat with IDFA:
- Byrne’s local legacy of fresh milk from family farms and co-ops: “We’ve been bringing in milk from family farms from around a 50-mile radius. It’s all about minimizing hauling, maximizing quality as well as maintaining the relationships.”
- Flexibility and reach of aseptic dairy products: “You have people down in the Caribbean taking some cool photos of our products down there. We’re very proud of the reach that we have.”
- Consumer focus on high protein dairy beverages: “That’s part of our Cortlandville expansion. We’ve also invested in an Innovation Center and test facilities to be able to do rapid turnaround of these high protein drinks.”
- Ramping up hiring for the Cortlandville expansion: “The challenge is are you going to have enough milk, but then are you going to have enough talented individuals? … We’re looking to populate the facility with the right staff to be able to execute properly.”
